Tweaks to #plone IRC logging
Crank up that signal-to-noise ratio! Status messages aren’t logged anymore, and [nolog] messages are subtler.
In response to your helpful feedback, I've made a few tweaks to the experimental opt-in logging of the #plone IRC channel:
- Joins, leaves, nick changes, and other such status messages are no longer recorded, taking a lot of noise out of the logs.
- [nolog] messages are now rolled into the subtle "..." elisions rather than being represented as "-= THIS MESSAGE NOT LOGGED. HOLY CRAP, EVERYBODY, LOOK AT ME BEING SUBTLE. =-".

Oops
Of course, nothing’s ever simple. While I was doing the upgrade, I naively thought “I know, I'll just reload the module, which supybot claims to be able to do”. The reload did not go well and (I'm guessing) wiped some instance vars, which then got flushed out to the conf files in the subsequent restart I was forced to do. The upshot is that I lost 6 of the 52 opters-in that we had as of February 22. I'll restore those this evening, when I get my hands on the backups, but if you opted in since February 22, you might need to do it again:
/msg SnarfBot logging on #plone
On the bright side, we have over 50 people making their advice Googleable so far. Good job, 50 people!
