To war!

by Erik Rose

Fear not, fair FacultyStaffDirectory extender authors—your deliverance from the tyrant templates is at hand.

In the foreboding twilight of the server room, tension mounts. FacultyStaffDirectory knows its time of monolithic templates is short. It senses the summoning of its development team from the far corners of the earth. And it fears.

Far away, the wind caresses the ears of long-oppressed extender authors, breathing rumors that the time for overriding entire templates is short. She whispers hope of componentized views, teases with tales of reordering and loose coupling. Dare they dream?

“Too long have the tyrant templates dominated our codebase,” rings the cry from the kingdom of WebLion. “Come, Cris Ewing from the land of Washington. Come, Federico, Glidardo, and Vladimir from far-off Mexico. Craig, ’sup? Let us rise, mount our WebDAV shares, and make a sally unto viewlet victory! To warrrrrrrr!”

You've clearly not forgotten that having fun is one of the most important parts of software development.
