Stuff I'll never find time to blog about properly
WebServerAuth updated, svn.plone.org updated, and CacheableRedirects speeds up your 301s
WebServerAuth 1.1.2 is out
Here's a new version of the product that lets your web server handle authentication and your Plone site believe it.
- Corrected a bug that kept users from being recognized when they had a domain in their login name and domain stripping was on.
- Added experimental support for use with plain Zope, sans Plone. Works great with Zenoss 2.3.3! Zenoss rocks, btw, even if it is somewhat tricky to install.
CacheableRedirects is sort of out
We have a client site that's deathly slow because it has 10,000 plone.app.redirector redirects, and, because neither Plone nor CacheFu see fit to mess with them, they default to a January 2000 Expires header that keeps them from being cached. That means Zope wakes up N times whenever somebody loads a page with inline redirected images, which makes baby Jesus cry. Craig Haynal and I banged on this problem all afternoon, and the result is something that's totally unsupported, ugly, and works great. Check out the trunk of CacheableRedirects to make 301 redirects cacheable for 24 hours.
plone.org svn is really at 1.5 now
The software was at 1.5 a week ago, but now the repository format is upgraded, so we have full support for advanced (such as it is) merge tracking.
A plea for help
Can anyone think of what might be linking to /places/on/my/site?searchterm=None? My logs are full of them, both from bots and normal people, and I can't help but think them a shameful waste of Zope cycles. Please add a comment if you can clue me in.

That comes from following one of the keyword ("filed under") links above.
