GloWorm 0.1 alpha 6 and upcoming sprint

by Eric Steele

A new ui-focused release of GloWorm is available for your tinkering pleasure.

GloWorm 0.1 alpha 6 and upcoming sprint

The revamped GloWorm UI

Another Alpha

Alpha 6 is out now on pypi. This iteration mainly focuses on UI issues, cleaning up forms and rearranging the panel layouts. I've added a navigation tree to show the viewlet manager and viewlet tree of the inspected page (see image). This makes it much easier to find the bit of the page you're looking for and also to see where the thing you're poking at falls in the page heirarchy.

As always, I welcome any comments, suggestions, hate mail, or baked goods you'd like to offer.

Upcoming Sprint

I'll be spending time working on GloWorm at the Post-Conference Theming Sprint. I'm looking for a few folks interested in helping out. I'm especially interested in nabbing someone who knows their Javascript to work on a few tasks. Here's my list of possible sprinting tasks:
  • Drag-and-drop reordering of viewlets
  • Viewlet manager overrides so I can get rid of the monkeypatch
  • Writing some new KSS/Javascript to pull more information out of the page
  • Browser compatability issues
  • General UI primping and usability preening
  • Brainstorming about what else it should do
  • Documentation

Feel free to contact me at EricSteele@psu.edu if you have any questions.

Whoops!
