Course Description

WorldCookery Zope training provides a thorough introduction to Zope 3 concepts and programming practices. Starting out with Grok, we will learn how to produce simple browser pages using Zope Page Templates and more complex ones using Python, and how to automate HTML form generation and validation. We will then discuss common Zope concepts such as object hierarchies, containers, object persistence (ZODB), interfaces and schemas and lastly, the Component Architecture. These are the foundation for the more advanced topics that follow, such as metadata annotations, events, authentication and authorization, etc.

Prerequisites

The WorldCookery Zope training is targeted at developers. While web designers and management staff have attended past trainings, the material is written for developers who have experience writing web applications.

All participants should be fairly comfortable with the Python programming language and general concepts of web programming (HTTP, HTML, XML, etc.). The Zope 3 training does not include a Python introductory course.

Each participant should bring a laptop computer that he or she is comfortable developing with. That means whichever operating system and development environment is preferred, it should be set up before coming to the training.
