Stupid Firefox Tricks: Cheating with search completion

Use Firefox's Google search completion in other search bar search bar searches.

I'm absolutely thrilled with Google Suggestions integration with Firefox's search bar, but I find myself wanting it for the other search plugins as well. I accidentally stumbled across a way to do it:

  1. Start typing your search query into Firefox's search bar using the Google search.
  2. Once the search suggestion box appears, use command + down-arrow (on OSX) to switch to another search engine.
  3. Use the down-arrow key to select your search term.
  4. Hit 'enter'.
